Coinbase Restores Wallet Name as Multichain Trading Expands
Base App returns to the Coinbase Wallet name, pairing self-custody with broader network access and a rollout of additional onchain trading markets.
Key Takeaways
- Base App is returning to the Coinbase Wallet name as its focus shifts toward multichain trading.
- The app remains self-custodial, with support spanning more than 10 networks, according to Coinbase’s product head.
A Broader Trading App
Coinbase is restoring the Coinbase Wallet name to Base App, The Block reported on September 10, 2026, citing an interview with wallet product head Ryan Kass.
Kass described the wallet as a venue for products and assets beyond Coinbase’s centralized exchange. Supported networks include Base, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, with Robinhood Chain and Monad joining the lineup, the report said.
The current Coinbase Wallet website presents a self-custodial trading app with swaps, charts and limit orders. It also describes tokenized stocks, commodities, prediction markets and perpetual futures as new markets rolling out. Some features remain subject to geographic restrictions.
The change reverses the Base App introduction in July 2025, when the company emphasized social features, messaging and mini-apps alongside payments and trading.
Market Analysis
The restored name accompanies a broader product mandate: access to assets across networks through one self-custodial app. Base remains part of that offering, while the wallet’s identity extends beyond a single blockchain ecosystem.
