Uniswap Launches StablePair Hook for Stablecoin Pools
Ethereum pools for USDC/USDG and USDC/USDT adopt dynamic fees, with auctions for price-correcting swaps and governance-controlled updates to the hook.
Key Takeaways
- StablePair Hook is live on Ethereum with USDC/USDG and USDC/USDT pools, Uniswap Labs said.
- The v4 hook adjusts liquidity-provider fees according to price deviation and trade direction.
Dynamic Fees for Stable Pairs
Uniswap Labs announced on September 10, 2026 that it had launched StablePair Hook, a Uniswap v4 extension for assets expected to trade around the same price. The first two pools pair USDC with USDG and USDT on Ethereum mainnet.
According to the technical documentation, fees change with the pool's position relative to a configured reference rate. Within a narrow band, the mechanism targets a fixed bid/ask spread before a swap's price impact.
Outside that band, trades moving the price toward the reference rate face a fee that begins high and declines each block until a trader accepts it. Trades pushing the price farther away pay no LP fee. This auction mechanism is intended to leave liquidity providers with more of the value generated when prices return toward parity.
New StablePair pools can currently be created only by Uniswap Labs. Governance controls changes to existing pool parameters and upgrades to the hook, allowing revisions without moving liquidity to new pools.
Market Analysis
StablePair makes the fee charged for restoring a pool's price part of the trading mechanism. Its effect for liquidity providers depends on when arbitrageurs accept that fee. For traders, the quoted spread also remains separate from price impact: Uniswap's documentation notes that larger swaps execute differently depending on available liquidity.
