Tether Backs EFY Finance to Expand Stablecoin Infrastructure in Latin America
Tether invested in EFY Finance's seed round to expand regulated stablecoin payment, custody and settlement infrastructure across Latin America.
Tether announced on October 13 that it invested in EFY Finance's seed round to expand institutional access to USD₮ and USA₮ across Latin America. The size of the investment, the total round and EFY Finance's valuation were not disclosed.
EFY Finance provides stablecoin-based cross-border payments, accounts, digital-asset custody, on- and off-ramps, over-the-counter services, wallets and cards. Tether said the company supports more than 12 currencies and payment corridors, can settle to local accounts in 17 countries and serves more than 25,000 active individual and business accounts.
What the investment is intended to support
The funding is aimed at connecting stablecoins with banks, local payment networks and business settlement systems. EFY Finance holds a Digital Asset Service Provider licence in El Salvador and has an established presence in Bolivia, Colombia, Mexico, El Salvador, Panama and Ecuador.
The announcement identifies both USD₮ and USA₮ as supported assets. USA₮ is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A., with Tether supporting its launch. The release does not specify which EFY Finance markets will add USA₮ first or provide a product timetable.

What remains unconfirmed
The announcement does not disclose the investment amount, round size, valuation, transaction volume or new banking partners. It also does not establish that every service is available in all 17 settlement countries. Institutional users still need to verify local licensing, eligible entities, custody terms, settlement times, fees and supported currencies for each corridor.
Stablecoins also carry issuer, reserve, operational, counterparty and regulatory risks. Security and platform safeguards can be reviewed separately through the OrangeX.com Trust Center.
OrangeX.com Analysis
The strategic value lies less in the seed-round headline than in EFY Finance's existing regulated distribution and links to local accounts. If the investment produces deeper banking connections and reliable settlement, it could reduce the operational friction between digital dollars and traditional payment systems.
The measurable signals will be new licensed corridors, active institutional customers, settlement volume and transparent service terms. Until those details emerge, the announcement should be read as an infrastructure expansion plan rather than proof of immediate adoption or guaranteed demand for either stablecoin.
