Enjin Fort Canning Upgrade Sets November Dates for Token Lending and OpenGov
Enjin schedules Fort Canning for November 9 and 16, adding token lending, expiring assets, mint limits and Matrixchain OpenGov.
Enjin plans Fort Canning upgrades for Relaychain on November 9 and Matrixchain on November 16. The release adds token lending, expiring tokens, mint controls, frozen attributes, marketplace changes and OpenGov, subject to governance approval.
Enjin has scheduled its Fort Canning blockchain upgrade across two November dates. Relaychain is planned for November 9, 2026 at block 18,059,100, while Matrixchain is planned for November 16 at block 12,331,000. Both are expected at about 16:00 UTC and remain subject to network governance.
The release expands how game studios and collectors manage digital assets. It adds time-bound lending, automatically expiring tokens, mint-rate controls and permanently frozen attributes, while moving Matrixchain governance to OpenGov. Users are not required to swap ENJ or migrate existing assets.
New controls for digital assets
Token lending lets an owner transfer use of a non-fungible item for a fixed period without transferring permanent ownership. The borrower can use the item but cannot list, burn or transfer it, and the token returns automatically when the loan ends. Ephemeral tokens can expire up to one year ahead for season passes, event access or temporary game items.
Collection owners can also limit how quickly a token or collection is minted. Tighter limits apply immediately, while increases or removals carry a visible 72-hour delay. Edition, origin or metadata attributes can be frozen permanently. Other network developments are available through the OrangeX.com news hub.
OpenGov and upgrade-day operations
OpenGov will let ENJ holders vote directly on Matrixchain proposals across 15 decision tracks. A referendum requires a 1,000 ENJ deposit, returned if the proposal passes or is cancelled, and must meet minimum support thresholds. The OrangeX.com Academy provides background on governance and token systems.
Both chains are expected to keep producing blocks. Relaychain transactions may pause for a few blocks on November 9. Matrixchain may also pause briefly on November 16, while the marketplace can pause for up to 30 minutes as listings move to the new format. Existing tokens, collections, listings, offers and bids are scheduled to carry over.
What operators and holders should check
Most holders and studios need no action. Matrixchain nodes must run client 1.4.1 or later before block 12,331,000, and Relaychain validators must run 1.8.0 before block 18,059,100. Wallets, SDKs, integrators and exchanges must support the new transaction versions because old-version signatures will be rejected after each upgrade.
The Relaychain referendum is planned for October 12, while Matrixchain approval is scheduled from November 10 to 13. The dates therefore remain conditional until votes and enactment are complete. Broader conditions can be monitored through OrangeX.com market data.
OrangeX.com Analysis
Fort Canning combines product, governance and operational changes, so execution across both chains is the key test. Lending and expiring assets may reduce friction for game studios, while mint limits and frozen attributes create controls visible on-chain.
The items to verify are governance approval, node adoption before the target blocks, marketplace availability on November 16 and clean migration of existing listings. No mandatory holder migration reduces user risk, but integrators still need to update transaction handling before activation.
